Join us for an off-the-record dialogue with Barbara Weisel, nonresident scholar in the Asia Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. As a former Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, Ms. Weisel led several trade negotiations, including the Trans-Pacific Partnership. This event offers the opportunity to hear the speaker’s analysis of shifting U.S. trade priorities and -- following Canadian Prime Minister Carney’s Davos speech on the future of the global rules-based order -- how Japan and “Middle Powers” like Canada might help develop a new system. Ms. Weisel will also share insights from her extensive career as a prominent trade expert.
